Tomas Slavik took a big win at first edition of new urban DH race called Down Puerto Vallarta situated in most famous vacation area by the sea in Mexico. Basically paradise which was hiding one of the most technical urban DH tracks and brought some big names to put themselves to a challenge for the fight for a first place. Times we really tight, but at the end it was Slavik who walked away with 1st place.

“Well, first days I felt more like in paradise by the sea or at vacation, because I have never been racing in such a cool location. But this place was hiding one of the most technical tracks and at the same time one of the most fun tracks I have ever been riding on. It had basically a piece of everything and thats what I really liked about it and had so much fun racing there. Start with really beautiful view and its ending by the beach! I was just wondering if there is gonna be enough spectators, but already one day before race during the trainings I walked down the track and at the last straight I saw thousands and thousands of spectators… I was just shocked! Unreal! During the race day I felt really good on the track, the sun was out, crowd was pushing us…. Everything went perfect! In the finals I set up the fastest time and holt it like this until the end of the race! Stoked to take a 1st place for the 1st time in Mexico! Big respect to track builders and organisers for bringing this show to such a cool place like Puerto Vallarta. Even though its cool to take a win I realised that day again there are way more important things at races than winning, having fun and thats arriving to the finish in one piece. Even thought the track was really save for an urban race there was one serious accident and my thoughts are now more with Franz Grossman who is still in coma after his crash. Im very happy for the way bike community reacted and really hope Franz will wake up soon and everything is going to be all right…because this is what really matters now! Stay strong Franz!”
